Edge diffraction of a convergent wave.

Closed-form solutions have been derived for the diffraction patterns at the focal plane of (1) a convergent wave of unit amplitude illuminating a segment of a circular aperture and (2) a convergent wave of Gaussian amplitude diffracted by an infinite edge. Photographs showing the main features of these edge transform patterns are presented together with computer-generated graphs.

Asymmetric excitation of surface plasmons by dark mode coupling.

Control over surface plasmons (SPs) is essential in a variety of cutting-edge applications, such as highly integrated photonic signal processing systems, deep-subwavelength lasing, high-resolution imaging, and ultrasensitive biomedical detection. Recently, asymmetric excitation of SPs has attracted enormous interest. In free space, the analog of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in...

Subharmonic resonant excitation of edge waves by breaking surface waves

We have added a new Figure 3, where we show two frequency spectra. The first spectrum (Figure 3 a) is in absence of the breaking waves, where the first peak indicates the edge wave frequency and the second peak indicates the surface elevation frequency. The second frequency spectrum (Figure 3 b) is plotted in presence of breaking wave and indicates the suppression of the peak for the edge wave ...

Velocity Inversion with an Iterative Normal Incidence Point (NIP) Wave Tomography with Model-Based Common Diffraction Surface (CDS) Stack

Normal Incidence Point (NIP) wave tomography inversion has been recently developed to generate a velocity model using Common Reflection Surface (CRS) attributes, which is called the kinematic wavefield attribute. In this paper, we propose to use the model based Common Diffraction Surface (CDS) stack method attributes instead of data driven Common Reflection Surface attributes as an input data p...

Bragg diffraction of microcavity polaritons by a surface acoustic wave.

Bragg scattering of polaritons by a coherent acoustic wave is mediated and strongly enhanced by the exciton states resonant with the acoustic and optic fields in the intraband and interband transitions, respectively. In this case, in contrast with conventional acousto-optics, the resonantly enhanced Bragg spectra reveal the multiple orders of diffracted light. For polaritons in GaAs microcaviti...
